Allegation that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is one of the 30 liars

Argument:

How truthful the Holy Prophet   may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him was when he said:

In my Ummah, 30 liars will be born. Each will claim Prophethood and claim to be a Prophet, even though I am the last Prophet and there shall be no Prophet after me.
Abu Dawood Vol . 2 p.228, Tirimizi Vol 2 p.45

Rebuttal:

It is a proven fact that during and after the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him sadly passed away, many people claimed prophethood.  They saw it as a way to gain power and position and during the Khilafat of Hazrat Abu Bakr may Allah be pleased with him he had to deal with this big problem.  This is why the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him said such things that ‘there shall be no Prophet after me’, so that the Muslims were not expecting a Prophet, instead he wanted the institution of Khilafat to follow him, which Alhamdulillah happened.

But as for no prophet ever coming again, then this is the point that we keep raising.  If this was true, then why did the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him say that Hazrat Isa may peace be upon him, a prophet of Allah, will return?  Calling him a prophet. If Jesus, a prophet of Allah, comes, then this is a contradiction!  How can he come if ‘no prophet will come after the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him?  You can’t have it both ways, you can’t say ‘no prophet will ever come, but a prophet will come – Hazrat Isa may peace be upon him.  So what is the answer to this?

Our understanding of this is that no prophet will come immediately after the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, so the Sahaba (Companions) should not expect a new prophet among them, but later on when Jesus comes, that is a different era and need.  Secondly it is very clear that no new faith can now come, Islam is the final religion, the Holy Qur’an is the final teaching, so therefore we can say no new law-bearing prophet will come to bring a new faith, that can be understood from this saying, but as for a prophet, then we need to decide about Hazrat Jesus’s coming.

Then we need to look into the need of another Prophet?  Is there a need?  Why did the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him say that Hazrat Isa may peace be upon him will return?

This is the second important message that the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him left us with, he said at his farewell sermon I leave behind me two things, the QUR’AN and my example, the SUNNAH and if you follow these you will never go astray.”  Alhamdulillah we have the same Holy Qur’an today as was revealed to our beloved master, the Holy Prophet Muhammad may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, likewise we have the Sunnah and Ahadith to help us.  Therefore all the guidance that we need is with us, so as the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him has said “if you follow these you will never go astray.”  Therefore is the Muslim world of today not astray?  Are they following the true teachings of Islam?  Are they spreading a message of peace and love?

Please tell us where this is happening?  Tell us one country that is practising the true teachings of Islam?  Naturally if this is happening then we are in no more need of guidance and as the Holy Qur’an prophesied  ‘Islam will be prevailing over all religions’.  But this is not happening.  The so called Islamic leaders are spreading a message of hate and terrorism, not love and peace.  All over the Muslim world there is no unity. Our beloved master told us “no Muslim should hurt, abuse or kill another Muslim“, but all we see is that Muslims are hurting each other, calling each other Kafirs and sadly killing each other.  Therefore despite all the guidance being with us, are we following it?  And if we do not follow it, then what shall we do?

We pray to Allah over 30 times a day to ‘guide us to the right path’, after asking Allah for guidance, will Allah then neglect us?  Therefore Allah has sent the Imam Mahdi – the Guided One – to us, to guide us back to the true teachings of Islam and back onto the straight path.  To help us get unity and strive to be His humble servants.  But to do that, he needs authority from Allah; he can’t just claim to be the Imam Mahdi, he has to be told by Allah and he needs to be more than just a reformer, he needs to be a prophet from Allah. Therefore as there is a need for another Prophet to come, then Allah will respond to that need and send us another prophet, as promised by our beloved master, the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

Hazrat ‘Ayesha, Ummul Momineen, the Truthful, may Allah be pleased with her, the beloved wife of the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him is recorded to have said:

O ye Muslims, do proclaim that the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him was the Khataman Nabiyyeen, but never say that there shall be no prophet after him
Durri Mansoor, Vol 5, pg 204

Shaikh ul Imam, Ibni Qutaibah (d.267 AH) after quoting what Hazrat ‘Ayesha, the Truthful, may Allah be pleased with her had said, comments:

This statement (of Hazrat ‘Ayesha) does not go against what the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him has said i.e. ‘La Nabi B’adi’ (no prophet after me), because what the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon himactually meant was that no prophet would come after him who would abrogate his Code of Law.
Tawil Mukhtaliful Ahadith, pg 236

The renowned Muhaddith (Reformer) and scholar of the Indian sub-continent, Imam Muhammad Tahir (d. 986 AH/1578 AD), stated:

This view of Hazrat ‘Ayesha may Allah be pleased with her is based on the assumption that Jesus may peace be upon him was expected to come down.  This view too does not contradict the saying of the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him ‘There is no prophet after me’. What he meant to say was that there shall be no prophet after him who shall abrogate his Law.

The renowned commentator of the Mishkat, Mulla Ali Qari (d. 1014AH / 1606 AD), says:

According to the Ulema (religious scholars) the words ‘La Nabiyya B’adee’ mean that no prophet in the future shall be raised who shall abrogate the Law of the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
Al-Isha’at Fi Ashraqatus Saat, pg 226

Hazrat Shah Wali Ullah of Dehli (d.1176AD), the renowned Muhaddith and scholar, writes:

From the sayings of the Holy Prophet ‘La Nabiyya B’adi and La Rasool’ we come to understand that prophethood that has ceased is the Law-bearing prophethood.
Qiratul ‘Ainain Fi Tafadhulul Shaikhain, pg 39
