Truthfulness of the Promised Messiah: V – Prophecies

If a person is truly from Allah then he will have a very close relationship with Allah. Of course everyone of us should be striving for a good, close relationship with Allah and one of the blessings of that relationship is conversing with Allah and Allah responding to you. As the Holy Qur’an relates:

And when My servants ask thee about Me, say, “I am near. I answer the prayer of the supplicant when he prays to Me. So they should hearken to Me and believe in Me, That they may follow the right way.”
Holy Qur’an, Chapter 2, verse 187

The main way that Allah speaks to us is to allow things to happen. People may say that they are coincidences, but if you have asked for something and it then happens, a believer feels that this is Allah’s work. Likewise, when we look back over our lives, then you can usually see how Allah has helped you. So that is a very common way. Then there are the dreams, we all get dreams, but Godly dreams usually have a message and they stand out. If you see the Holy Prophet, the Promised Messiah or other holy people, then it is very clear. If you get verses from the Holy Qur’an again it is clear. But sometimes dreams are hard for us to understand. Also dreams can easily be forgotten, that is why it is good to write them down as soon as possible. But dreams are another way Allah communicates with us. The next stage is Kashf a waking dream or trance. Similar to a dream, but you might see something or someone or a verse of the Holy Qur’an etc. Finally, there is revelation, where Allah speaks to you. This again might be something simple like ‘I love you’ or more complex.

Generally, the closer a person is to Allah, the more of these spiritual experiences you get. But for a Prophet then they have a special relationship with Allah and it goes to a much higher degree. Allah will be constantly speaking to him, guiding him and giving him encouragement and prophecies regarding the future.

The Holy Qur’an states:

Allah would not leave the believers as you are, until He separated the wicked from the good. Nor would Allah reveal to you the unseen. But Allah chooses of His Messengers whom He pleases. Believe therefore, in Allah and His Messengers. If you believe and be righteous, you shall have a great reward.
Holy Qur’an, Chapter 3, verse 180

The Holy Bible states:

Jesus said unto him, ‘Verily I say unto thee, that this night before the cock crow, thou shalt deny me thrice.
Holy Bible, Matthew Chapter 26, verse 34

Concerning Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, may peace be upon him, he had revelations in abundance, many of which were prophecies. In fact there is a very thick book of all the dreams and revelations that he had received, which is called Tadhkirah.

The Promised Messiah, may peace be upon him, prophesised many things, In 1905 he predicted – Great Earthquakes; The Great World Wars; that the Russian Tsar will be overthrown, well before the Russian Revolution. He wrote in part of a long poem inBrahin-e-Ahmadiyya, Vol V:

A sign will appear in some days hence which shall overwhelm country and town and meadow. People will be seized in a wave of divine wrath, so suddenly that a naked one will have no time to secure his loin cloth. Suddenly an earthquake will severely shake man, and trees and rocks and oceans. In the twinkling of an eye the earth will be overwhelmed and streams of blood will flow  like channel tides. Those who night garments were white as jasmine will wake up in the morning as if clad in red. Man and animals will go out of their minds and pigeons and nightingales will forget their songs. That hour will bear hard upon every traveller and those on journey will lose their way in agony. The waters of mountain streams will run red of the blood of the dead like red wine. Men high and low will be convulsed in fear  and the Czar himself at that hour will be a sad case. That divine sign will be a specimen of terror. Heaven will attack with a drawn sword. Hasten not to repudiate this, thou stupid fool, for on this fulfilment of this sign depends my truth. This is a prophecy based on divine revelation and will surely be fulfilled; wait then awhile in righteousness and steadfastness. Divine revelation has repeatedly employed the word earthquake in this context, but I am not able to state with certainty that it will in fact be an earthquake but some dire calamity the like of which has never been before seen, which would bring about great destruction of life and property. If people do not openly reform their way of life and no extraordinary sign appears, I shall in such case been proven false.

History bears testimony as to how this frightening prophecy was fulfilled. Nine short years after its mention, the world witnessed the massive destruction of World War One. Over 65 million men were mobilised into military action and ten million died. Entire populations suffered the ravages of famine, disease and dislocation. Property damage was estimated at two hundred billion dollars. The Czar (Tsar of Russia) abdicated his throne in 1917 and was brutally murdered shortly there after.

Again the Promised Messiah, may peace be upon him, received many revelations, for instance, he was informed “I will cause thy message to reach the corners of the world” and “Kings will seek blessings from thy clothes”. At the time of receiving these, he was unknown. In fact Qadian, where he lived, was not even on the map. The nearest Post Box was about 10 miles away. And yet, he made such a claim. We now see that we have established Ahmadi communities and built Mosques all over the world and our satellite TV Station MTA International is broadcast around the world 24 hours every day and we have a website www.alislam.org which is on the worldwide web where you can download all Ahmadiyya literature. African Kings have accepted Ahmadiyyat and been given pieces of cloth from the clothes of the Promised Messiah for blessings.
