Khatamun Nabiyyeen – Is a Prophet expected to come?

All the major religions of the world have promised the advent of a Divine personage who would usher in a new era of hope for mankind and unite them under one Divine flag. Every religion has been prophesied to be victorious, to bring the Kingdom of Heaven on Earth!

The Jews await the Messiah. They rejected Jesus Christ and so they are still waiting for the Messiah to come to bring the Jewish nation to victory.

The Christians await the second coming of Christ – the Promised Messiah who they believe is alive physically in Heaven and will usher in the glory of Christianity.

The Hindus await the return of Lord Krishna, whilst the Buddhists await the coming of the Buddha and the Zoroastrians await Ahura Mazda, the God of Light.

The Muslims also await the second coming of Christ, to whom they also believe that he is alive physically in Heaven, but as a Prophet and not a part of the Trinity like the Christians believe. The Muslims are also waiting for the Imam Mahdi, to help Jesus in bringing the promised victory of Islam.

All these personages are supposedly to come in the Latter Days and defeat one another and then proclaim that they are the true way for mankind to follow.

Therefore, the Jews will be proclaiming the One God, but it will be the God of Israel; whereas the Christians will be proclaiming that Jesus is God and part of the Trinity or Son of God; the Hindus will be proclaiming that you should worship many Gods; the Buddhists will be proclaiming that there is No God or that Buddha is a God; the Zoroastrians will be proclaiming that there are two Gods, the God of Light and the God of Darkness and the Muslims will bring a Jewish Prophet and unite him with a Bloody Mahdi, brandishing a sword in the name of Allah and fighting everyone else.

Will this bring peace to the Earth? Is this the purpose of a religion or of a Prophet? Does it make any sense at all? Common sense tells us that if there is One God, then that God would send one promised reformer to unite the world and to guide the world to peace and unity.

Therefore, the Islamic point of view is that it accepts all prophets sent by Allah and that Allah has sent Islam to unite all the religions of the world and lead the whole of mankind to God. Since the Holy Prophet Muhammad, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, has now brought the final law for all mankind, therefore no more law-bearing prophets can now come and any non-law-bearing prophets can only come as subordinates to the Holy Prophet Muhammad, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, therefore coming in the pale of Islam. It is illogical to think that Allah will send so many different promised reformers in the latter days, which will only cause confusion. Logic tells us that all these promised reformers have to be one and the same person and that they are different spiritual titles not different people.

Hence, if a person comes who claims to be the Christ, the Promised Messiah, Krishna, Buddha, Mahdi etc. then whoever is waiting for such a person, should look into the claim of the claimant to see if he has fulfilled the criteria of a true claimant as found in the Holy Books. If that person does fulfil the criteria, then he must be followed. In this way, all the religions of the world and all of mankind can be united by this one promised reformer.

This view is supported by the Holy Prophet Muhammad, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, when he said:

The Mahdi is none other than the Messiah Sunan Ibn-e-Majah Kitabul-Fitan

Therefore Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah & Mahdi, has in fact claimed to be that personage awaited by all the religions. Therefore he has invited everyone, no matter what religion they belong to, to look into his claim according to their own Holy Books and see if he fulfils their criteria of being a true prophet. If so, then they should accept him. By accepting him, then all the religions of the world will accept Islam, as he is a Muslim. This will then make Islam prevail over all religions.
