Allegation that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad claimed to be better than the Holy Prophet

Argument:

Although in their official propaganda, Qadianis (Ahmadis) refer to their founder, Mirza Ghulam, as Mahdi or Messiah, the truth is that they view him as the most perfect prophet of God. Mirza Ghulam Qadiani himself claimed to be the perfected form of Hazrat Muhammad may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him (God forbid) and stated that anyone who joins him becomes a Sahaba (companion) of the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him! When a knowledgeable Qadiani praises “Muhammad”, he is really praising Mirza Ghulam!

Mirza Ghulam wrote:

And Allah sent down upon me the bounty of the Holy Prophet and made it perfect; and he drew towards me the kindness and generosity of the merciful Prophet, so that I became one with him. Thus, he who joins my group, joins the group of the companions (Sahaba) of my Leader, the best of messengers. It is not hidden from those who have the ability to think that this is what the words “Akhareen Menhom” (others of them) mean. The person who makes a difference between me and the Mustafa has neither seen me nor recognized me.

Rebuttal:

All Muslims love the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and are ready to defend his honour, naturally then one of the best ways to provoke hatred is to portray that a person is insulting the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.  When you read the writings of Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad may peace be upon him you do not find anywhere where he is claiming to be better than the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, in fact you find the opposite, where he claims to be a humble servant and follower of his beloved master.  All Ahmadi Muslims love the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and are ready to defend his honour and there is no way we would accept that Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad may peace be upon him was better or superior to him.  It is a false allegation, aimed at making mischief.

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad may peace be upon him has written:-

There have been millions of pure natured people in the world and there will be more in the future, yet the best of them all and the highest man of God was him whose name was Muhammad may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.”
Chashma Marifat pg 288, Roohani Khazain Vol 23, pg 288

No man can acquire the status bestowed upon the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him
Haqeeqatul Wahi pg 115, Roohani Khazain Vol 22, pg 118

Not even the Prophets of yore can share equally, the excellences of the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him nor could the angels claim equality with him.
Braheen-e-Ahmadiyya Pg 258, Roohani Khazain Vol 1

The light of high degree that was bestowed upon the perfect man was not bestowed upon the stars or the moon. It was not bestowed upon the sun nor was it bestowed upon the ocean or the rivers. It was not bestowed upon rubies or emeralds nor upon sapphires. In short, it was not bestowed upon any earthly or heavenly object. It was only bestowed upon the perfect man whose highest and loftiest and most perfect example was our lord and master, the Chief of all creation, Muhammad, the Chosen One may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.
Ayenae Kamalat e Islam pg 161, Roohani Khazain Vol 5, pg 161

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad may peace be upon him made it very clear that he obtained his prophethood only through the love he had for the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and any sign that was shown to him, he never claimed any personal credit for it, instead made it clear that these signs were on account of his beloved master, the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. He stated:

Whatever is seen to have taken place in my favour, is in fact a miracle of the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him
Haqeeqatul Wahi, Roohani Khazain Vol 22

He made it very clear that he was a reflection of the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him and likened it to the Sun and the Moon, that the Sun gives out light and the Moon reflects that light.  Without the light from the Sun the Moon has no light.  Therefore the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him is like the Sun that gives out light and the Promised Messiah is like the Moon that reflects the light of the sun.  Take away the teachings of the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him then the Promised Messiah may peace be upon him has nothing new to give, he has only come to revive the teachings of the Holy Prophet may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him not bring anything new.  Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad may peace be upon him has said:

God is One and Muhammad may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him is His prophet and he is the Khatamul Anbiya and above all other prophets.  After him there is no other prophet except one who is clothed in the cloak of Muhammad by way of reflection, for a servant has no identity apart from his master, nor is a branch distinct from its trunk.  He who is bestowed the title of prophet on account of his complete absorption in his master does not contravene the Khatam-i-Nabuwwat.  When you observe your reflection in a mirror there are not two of you, but only one, though there appears two; only one is the original and the other is his reflection.  This is what God desired in the case of the Promised Messiah.
